If you've never done any weight training, you may have the impression that the only people who do weight training are body builders and those who want to look like the Incredible Hulk. If that sounds like you, you couldn't be more wrong!
Weight training is something that almost everyone can do to tone their muscles. It's a terrific addition to your cardio workouts like running, walking and cardio classes. As a matter of fact, doing just cardio will do wonders for your stamina, but it may not tone and sculpt your muscles to make you look your best. If you're a swimmer, there's no doubt that it's terrific exercise, especially if you do it regularly. Your arms and shoulders will be stronger and look better, but it may not do much for your spare tire.
Weight training doesn't just make you look good, it will also improve your strength, your bone and muscle health and your energy level.

Never Stop Eating - Never diet by staying hungry. You will go into what's known as fat storage mode. The body will try to to preserve energy by slowing down the metabolism and it will store more fat for energy for later use. If you can't resist not eating, always try to eat 1200 calories at least. Of course, 1500-2000 calories per day is ideal.
Plus, you need energy from food not only to stay functional throughout the day, but to get the activity you need to speed up your weight loss.
See the First Tip - We consume food for energy, but we also eat to absorb the required nutrients and vitamins we need to live. Vitamin pills are no stand-in for the natural vitamins we find in the foods we eat. Not getting enough vitamins and minerals can cause health problems, depending on what you're lacking.
When you are eating the correct amount of calories everyday, and the food you are consuming is healthy, then your mineral and vitamin intake will be adequate. Most people eating healthy |
